The San Diego Bay Wine & Food Festival Shines Bright Like a Diamond

Fish Taco TKO San Diego

Now that Thanksgiving has passed and my stomach has settled, I’m excited to reflect on one of the best foodie events of the year, the San Diego Bay Wine & Food Festival! My experience last year was nothing short of amazing, and not much has changed this time around. Between the Fish Taco TKO and the Grand Tasting, this week is better than that one Real Housewives of Orange County episode where Alexis discovers Smirnoff Ice in the middle of a Texas BBQ.

Fish Taco TKO 2016

At the Fish Taco TKO, dozens of San Diego restaurants battled it out to win the coveted prize of fish taco champion. After eating literally 8 tacos in 15 minutes, downing some of San Diego’s finest craft brews and listening to some sweet jams, I found my favorite. Shout out to underdog Salud!

Even though my fave didn’t take the cake (fab job, PB Fish Shop), the event was fun, delicious and one of the best taco Tuesdays I’ve had.

Next up was the Grand Tasting! If you’ve never been to this event, you absolutely need to go. You’ll find delicious bites, hundreds of wineries and gorgeous views at the Embarcadero.

I could describe the entire day, but instead, I think I’ll show you. Here are my top four favorites, followed by some more of the day’s delights!

Barleymash

So festive! Butternut squash soup and grilled cheese from Barleymash

Jakes Del Mar

Lobster grilled cheese love from Jake’s Del Mar

Ironside San Diego

Oysters from Ironside (of course).

Lionfish

Lastly, fresh sashimi from Lionfish (new, at the Pendry).

Here’s a glimpse at the rest of my day!

Of course, nothing could’ve made my day better than my date, red wine. Until next year!
