As I sit here on my couch, nursing my dull hangover and reflecting on the past week, it’s obvious that the past few days in San Diego will go down in history as some of the best of 2016 thus far. We’re talking a new restaurant opening in Little Italy, Opening Day at the races and the #ExpressLove party, kicking off San Diego Pride. Let’s get started!
Barbusa, previously Po Pazzo, celebrated their Grand Opening this week with a selection of modern Sicilian cuisine, craft cocktails, bubbles and wine. The caprese, hand made pastas and homemade sausage were a few of my favorite dishes, but I especially enjoyed the Funghi y Tartufo (hello truffles!).
I kicked off Pride this year with the #ExpressLove National Tour at Trust, sponsored by American Express and Paper Magazine. The purpose of the tour is simple – use the hashtag and show the world how you express love!
The event itself was an awesome celebration filled with craft cocktails and some amazing bites from Trust (lamb lollipops, anyone?).
The “Red” cocktail (above) included Skyy Vodka, Dolin Blanc, Watermelon and Lemon. “Green” (above) included Jalapeño, Tequila, Agave and Cucumber. “Blue” (below) was a tasty combo of Hangar Citrus, Blue Curacao, Lemon and Egg White.
Opening Day was on a Friday this year so it’s save to say it was EPIC. We hopped aboard the Vavi bus for maximum pregame excellence and the rest of the day was history. Shout out to the Village Hat Shop in Hillcrest for the fascinator!
Were you at any of this week’s fab San Diego events? Let me know in the comments!
